A Nigerian woman posted a video on social media complaining about the conditions faced by people seeking visas at the South Korean Embassy in Lagos. She said she arrived at the mission on a Monday morning at about 9:30 a.m., received queue number 19 and ended up waiting for more than two hours under the sun.
The video shows applicants forced to sit on a gutter pavement because the embassy provides no designated waiting area or shade. According to her, some individuals had been waiting since 6 a.m., yet there was nowhere for them to rest while they awaited service.
She urged the embassy to create a more suitable environment, suggesting that an appointment‑based system would help manage the crowd and avoid the need for people to stand or sit in the open. She also noted that the embassy stops accepting applications after 11 a.m., a detail that is not posted on its website.
After being told that the embassy would no longer accept applicants that day, the woman and others were instructed to return the following day, prompting her to criticize the lack of clear information and the overall treatment of applicants.
