A man recounted a surprising turn of events after he and several friends dined with a group of women at a Chinese restaurant in Lekki, Lagos, where the ladies joined their table and everyone seemed to receive equal attention.
One of the men, who had recently earned some money, arranged to fund the outing but, due to restrictions on his account, sold some coins and transferred the cash to another friend who owned an ATM card before stepping away briefly.
When the check arrived, the friend with the ATM card settled the bill, and the group jokingly referred to him as the “chairman.” After the meal, they exchanged Instagram and Snapchat usernames with the women.
The narrator said that only the friend who actually paid received replies from the women; his own messages and those of the other friends were ignored, leading him to wonder whether the women’s attention was linked to the person who appeared to foot the bill, noting that the original sponsor was not the visible payer.
