A fresh wave of insecurity has hit Kwara State as bandits reportedly invaded a rural community and abducted several residents, including a pregnant woman, nursing mothers, and children.
The attack, which occurred late Tuesday night, threw the community into panic as armed men stormed homes and forced victims into the surrounding bush before fleeing the scene.
Residents say the incident has left the entire area traumatized, with many families still unable to trace the whereabouts of their loved ones. Community leaders have called for urgent government intervention, warning that the continued presence of armed groups threatens the safety and stability of rural settlements.
Local vigilante groups reportedly attempted to pursue the attackers but were unable to match the bandits’ mobility and weaponry. Security operatives have since been deployed to the area to begin search-and-rescue operations.
