Afrobeats artist Davido recently discussed his family’s long‑standing practice of pursuing education overseas, noting that overseas study has been a recurring feature across several generations.
He recounted that his grandfather, who served as a senator, arranged for all of his children to attend schools abroad. Davido added that his father was educated in Kentucky, while his parents first crossed paths in London.
His mother later completed a master’s degree at Clark University in the United States, illustrating the family’s continued links to American academia.
Davido concluded that having ties to the United States and international education is not a new development for his family, emphasizing that the practice predates his own musical success.
