Popular Nigerian vocalist Timi Dakolo has addressed accusations made by disc jockey DJ Timmy, who claimed the singer owes him money and warned he would disclose private details of Dakolo’s life to his wife if the debt was not settled by a set deadline.
DJ Timmy had earlier gone public, alleging that Dakolo’s outstanding balance covered costs such as venue arrangements, graphic design, domain registration, website fees, video editing, video deposits and consultation services, and he gave the singer a specific timeframe to pay.
In a statement posted on Instagram through his lawyer, Dakolo described the DJ’s allegations as false, defamatory and intended to tarnish his image, insisting that he does not owe the amount cited.
He added that the accusations have harmed his reputation and that of his family, and confirmed that legal action has already been taken against DJ Timmy over the threats and claims.
The public exchange has drawn mixed responses from Nigerians online, with various opinions being shared about the dispute.
