Primate Elijah Ayodele, head of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, issued a warning to President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday that the opposition could overcome him in the 2027 presidential race if his government fails to address the nation’s grievances.
Ayodele explained that politicians who miss out on party tickets may eventually turn against Tinubu, and he accused some of the president’s inner circle of portraying the country’s situation as better than it actually is while seeking personal gain.
He named former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other opposition leaders as a coalition capable of challenging Tinubu’s bid for a second term, regardless of the support he currently enjoys.
The cleric also urged the president not to rely on alleged schemes to manipulate the vote, insisting that Nigerians would resist any rigging attempts and that the 2027 election would be fiercely contested. He concluded that the APC must win over the electorate, otherwise “all the magic will not work.”
