APC Niger State Leader Urges Tinubu and Yilwatda to Act or Party Faces Collapse

Ibrahim Idris, a senior figure of the All Progressives Congress in Niger State, has called on President Bola Tinubu and party National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda to intervene in the party’s internal turmoil, warning that the APC could lose its political foothold in the state ahead of the 2027 elections. He made the appeal in a statement released on Monday.

Idris said the crisis stems from the personal ambitions of a small group, causing the party to fracture. He noted that former commissioners, ex‑political appointees, current lawmakers and grassroots leaders are contemplating leaving the APC because they feel excluded.

“Unless the President and the National Chairman step in quickly, I doubt anything substantial will be left of the APC in Niger State after 2027,” Idris warned, adding that the party they have built over the years is gradually disintegrating due to the selfish interests of a few.

He also mentioned that discussions are already underway with community leaders, political stakeholders and grassroots supporters throughout the state to find a resolution.
