Tinubu mourns army general and soldiers killed in Boko Haram attack in Borno, vows to defeat terrorism in Nigeria.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of a senior army officer and several soldiers following a deadly attack by insurgents in northeastern Nigeria.

The incident occurred in Benisheikh, Borno State, where terrorists—believed to be members of Boko Haram—launched a coordinated assault on a military base. During the attack, a brigadier general, identified as Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, was reportedly among those killed. 

In a statement released after the incident, Tinubu described the fallen soldiers as “unforgettable and irreplaceable heroes”, praising their courage and sacrifice in defending the nation. He extended condolences to the families of the victims and the Nigerian Armed Forces.

According to military sources, the troops engaged the attackers with strong resistance, eventually repelling the assault. However, the clash resulted in the loss of several soldiers, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region. 

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to defeating terrorism, stating that the sacrifices of the fallen soldiers would not be in vain. He also urged Nigerians to continue supporting the military in its fight against insurgency.
