A Nigerian husband sold his sole property for ₦60 million in order to relocate abroad with his family, only to discover he had been duped after his wife’s recommended visa agent was revealed as her ex‑boyfriend.
According to an X post by @silvoxbtc, the wife had been urging her husband for an extended period to leave Nigeria, noting that many of her friends and their spouses were already living overseas. She persuaded him that a “reliable” agent could secure their visas and handle the move, leading the couple to sell the house to a friend and begin the relocation process.
Months elapsed without any visa being issued, prompting the husband to repeatedly contact the supposed agent, who gave no positive updates. While using his wife’s phone, he saw a message from the same individual and, upon reviewing the chat history, realized his wife had been in secret communication with him for years.
When confronted, the wife acknowledged that the man was her former boyfriend but insisted the relationship was no longer serious. She explained the visa delays as “some challenges” on the agent’s part, effectively confirming that the couple had been scammed. The husband now faces the loss of his property and the betrayal of his spouse.
