Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has renamed The Polytechnic, Ibadan, after the late Dr. Omololu Olunloyo.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced the renaming of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, in honour of the late former governor, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo

Makinde made the announcement during the interdenominational commendation service for the late statesman held on Thursday at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan.

According to the governor, the institution will now be known as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan, in recognition of Olunloyo’s contributions to the state and his role as the pioneer Rector of the institution.

“The institution will now be known as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan,” Makinde declared during his remarks.

Dr. Olunloyo, who passed away in April 2025 at the age of 90, served as Oyo State Governor and played a key role in the development of education in the state.

The Polytechnic Ibadan, founded in 1970, has produced thousands of graduates across various disciplines and remains one of Nigeria’s leading higher institutions.
