Gumi made the remarks amid growing reactions surrounding reports of his planned visit to the Oyo State capital. According to the cleric, Nigeria belongs to all its citizens, and no person or group has the authority to restrict his movement within the country.

He argued that freedom of movement is a fundamental right guaranteed under the law and emphasized that he has always advocated dialogue, peace, and national unity in his engagements across different regions.

The cleric expressed disappointment over calls by some individuals who reportedly opposed his visit, stating that such actions could deepen divisions and undermine efforts aimed at fostering understanding among Nigerians.

Gumi further maintained that his intention is to engage with people from different backgrounds and contribute to discussions on issues affecting the country. He noted that meaningful dialogue remains essential in addressing security concerns and promoting peaceful coexistence.

His comments have generated mixed reactions, with supporters arguing that every Nigerian should be free to visit any part of the country without intimidation. Others, however, continue to express concerns over some of his past positions on national issues.

The development has once again sparked conversations about freedom of movement, public perception of influential figures, and the role of dialogue in addressing Nigeria’s complex social and security challenges.

Political and community observers have urged all parties to remain peaceful and respectful in expressing their views, emphasizing the importance of tolerance and national unity.

As discussions continue, Gumi has made it clear that he remains undeterred by criticism and intends to exercise his right to visit Ibadan and other parts of the country whenever necessary.
