Regina Chukwu, a Nollywood actress known for her work in Yoruba‑language films, told Oyinmomo TV that gaining a foothold in the English‑language sector of the Nigerian movie industry often involves sexual favors, a claim reported in an interview released on July 25 2026.
She described attending several auditions at Surulere’s Winnings Hotel, where she saw actors such as Genevieve and others, and said the English‑language arena was far less accommodating than the Yoruba side, characterising it as “strictly sex for role.”
Chukwu, who is of Igbo descent but was raised among Yoruba people, asserted that aspiring actresses are expected to “sleep with them,” including “their generator guys,” and that producers circulate fake scripts to entice women into sexual intimacy.
While she enjoys recognition in Lagos and other southwestern states, she noted that she remains unknown in her home state of Enugu, adding that locals there would not acknowledge her if she visited today.
