Tension has escalated in a northern community after relatives of abducted villagers reportedly launched a retaliatory operation, kidnapping family members of the bandits responsible for earlier attacks.
According to local sources, the villagers took the action out of frustration following the failure of security agencies to rescue their loved ones who were abducted several weeks ago. The families of the missing victims allegedly traced the bandits’ hideouts and captured some of their wives, children and close relatives.
Witnesses say the move has triggered anxiety across nearby communities, as residents fear the situation may worsen if the bandits retaliate. Some locals claim the action was “borne out of helplessness,” insisting that the villagers had no other option after repeated ransom demands and threats from the armed group.
Security analysts, however, warn that the development could lead to a dangerous cycle of revenge, further complicating the already sensitive security crisis in the region. They stress the need for urgent intervention by intelligence agencies to prevent clashes and secure the release of all abducted victims.
