A woman has shared how she accidentally ruined her friend’s 40th birthday surprise after the woman’s husband sent her a private message asking her to call him.

According to the woman, she received a DM from her friend’s husband despite not having his phone number or regularly communicating with him.

She initially ignored the message, but after he sent another one, she replied, “I’m busy right now. I’ll call you when I’m free.”

The woman said she immediately took a screenshot of the conversation and sent it to her friend because she did not want to have a private conversation with her friend’s husband without her knowledge.

Her friend later called and explained that her husband’s message was connected to her upcoming birthday.

She then asked the woman to call her husband, which she did.

The man reportedly revealed that the message was meant to help him organise a surprise for his wife.

He said, “You just ruined the birthday surprise for her. I was planning a trip to Lagos to celebrate her 40th birthday.”

Lady questions whether she did anything wrong

The revelation left the woman questioning whether she had handled the situation wrongly by immediately informing her friend about the DM.

She said she believed it was safer to tell her friend rather than engage in a private conversation with her husband behind her back.

The situation has sparked a familiar dilemma about friendships, boundaries and surprise plans, particularly when a person receives an unexpected message from a friend’s spouse.
