Politics Not My Calling, Even With $1bn Offer – Bishop Oyedepo
Presiding Bishop David Oyedepo says no amount of money, including a $1bn offer, would make him join Nigerian politics, insisting his focus remains on ministry work.

Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has declared that he has no interest in participating in Nigerian politics, insisting that even a financial incentive as high as $1 billion would not sway his decision.
The cleric made the statement while addressing members of his congregation, stressing that politics is not part of his life’s calling. According to him, his focus remains firmly on ministry, spiritual leadership, and impacting lives through the work of the church.
Oyedepo explained that his decision is rooted in personal conviction rather than material considerations, noting that his assignment does not include holding political office or seeking power through government structures.
He further emphasized that while he encourages good governance and responsible leadership, his role is to pray for the nation and offer moral guidance rather than participate directly in partisan politics.
The outspoken preacher added that mixing political ambition with his spiritual mandate would distract him from his primary purpose, which he believes is divinely ordained.
His remarks have since sparked conversations across social media and religious circles, with many supporters praising his stance as a clear separation between faith leadership and political ambition.
Bishop Oyedepo has previously spoken on national issues, often offering strong opinions on governance, leadership, and societal values, but has consistently maintained that he has no plans to contest for political office.
The statement comes amid ongoing debates in Nigeria over the increasing involvement of religious figures in politics and governance.
