Three More PDP Governors Set to Resign — Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has revealed that three additional governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are preparing to leave the party. Fayose made this statement during an interview on _Politics Today_, a Channels Television program, on Wednesday.
According to him, these defections will leave the PDP with only five governors. He further claimed that internal power struggles and the desire for control among party leaders are the main reasons behind the party’s decline.
“The five remaining governors, one of them will struggle to secure the ticket, and they all know the ticket is nothing more than an ordinary tissue paper,” Fayose remarked, referencing the party’s fading influence.
This revelation follows the recent defection of Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Fayose dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu is pressuring opposition governors to defect, asserting that these moves are motivated by personal ambition.
He emphasized that the PDP’s ongoing crises are self-inflicted, stating, “The party is largely being destroyed by its own leaders who want to dominate its structure. This is exactly what happened in 2023.”
