Activist and Family Declared Wanted Over 2020 #EndSARS Shooting Footage

Nigerian civil rights activist Ismail Olanrewaju Soremekun and his family have reportedly been declared wanted by security operatives for allegedly filming soldiers during the October 2020 #EndSARS protests. The footage, which allegedly showed military personnel firing at unarmed protesters, went viral and sparked global outrage.
Authorities expanded the warrant to include Soremekun’s wife, Hannah Olufunke, and their children after the family reportedly evaded arrest by fleeing their home in Ibadan on November 27, 2020. The move is part of an intensified crackdown on individuals accused of using the protests to incite violence and destruction of property.
Human rights groups have condemned the actions, warning they undermine democratic values and the right to free expression in Nigeria.
