Wendy Osefo Removed from Position at Wesleyan University Following Fraud Charges

Nigerian-American academic and reality TV star Wendy Osefo has reportedly been dismissed from her role as a professor at Wesleyan University. This comes after her arrest alongside her husband, Eddie Osefo, on October 9, 2025, over multiple fraud-related charges.
Osefo, who joined Wesleyan in the fall of 2024, was teaching a course titled _“The Sociology of Reality TV: Race, Colorism, and Xenophobia.”_ The charges against her and her husband include 34 felony and misdemeanor counts, with allegations that they staged a home burglary in April 2024 and falsely claimed luxury items and jewelry worth $500,000 had been stolen.
Wesleyan University confirmed her removal in a statement, saying, _”Wendy Osefo is no longer an employee of Wesleyan University.”_ Neither Wendy nor her husband has publicly addressed the allegations yet.
Osefo, who holds advanced degrees from Temple University, Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University, is also known for her role on Bravo’s _Real Housewives of Potomac._ The scandal has left fans and students shocked, with many wondering how it will affect her career both in academia and on reality television
