Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has reacted after the Lagos State Police Command declared him wanted over alleged plans to incite public disorder. He describes the move as politically motivated and baseless.

Sowore Blasts Lagos Police Over “Baseless” Wanted Declaration
Human rights activist and convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, has reacted to being declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command, describing the move as “a political witch-hunt.”
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police had earlier announced that Sowore and several others were wanted for allegedly plotting to incite public unrest within the state.
In a swift response shared via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, Sowore dismissed the claims, saying the police were attempting to silence dissenting voices and intimidate those speaking out against bad governance.
“It’s laughable that the same police who fail to arrest corrupt politicians are declaring activists wanted for demanding justice. Their tactics won’t work,” he wrote.
“They’re Desperate to Suppress the Truth” — Sowore
Sowore maintained that his advocacy for accountability and democratic reform would continue, stressing that no amount of intimidation or false accusations would stop him from speaking out.
“We’re not the problem — corruption, impunity, and bad leadership are. They can’t scare us into silence,” he added.
The activist, who is also the publisher of Sahara Reporters, called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and resist attempts to stifle free speech under the guise of maintaining order.
Background
The Lagos Police Command had on Monday declared Sowore wanted, accusing him and others of planning to instigate civil unrest through “unauthorized gatherings and anti-government protests.”
However, Sowore insists the allegations are false and politically driven, linking them to his consistent criticism of government policies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
