Tyla pulls Lagos date from A*POP World Tour

South African singer Tyla has removed Lagos from her A*POP World Tour schedule amid growing boycott calls linked to xenophobia concerns.

South African artist Tyla has taken the Lagos concert, originally set for December 22, off the itinerary of her A*POP World Tour. The omission was spotted on Friday after social‑media criticism grew over reports of xenophobic attacks against Nigerians living in South Africa.

The decision follows a wave of online calls for a boycott, with public figures such as content creator Solomon Buchi and media personality Dotun urging Nigerians to skip the show as a symbolic protest against the alleged attacks.

Outrage was further fueled by the situation of Chidimma Adetshina, a former Miss Universe Nigeria of Nigerian descent, who is currently facing deportation proceedings in South Africa, adding pressure to cancel the Lagos performance.

Despite the Lagos removal, Tyla is still scheduled to wrap up the tour with performances in Cape Town and Johannesburg in January. Neither the singer nor her management has released an official explanation, and fans continue to speculate while debates over xenophobia and African cultural solidarity remain active on social media.
