A woman in Nigeria posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, after her neighbour arrived in tears having discovered an odd item in her son’s school bag. The mother shared a photo of the object and pleaded for a quick explanation of its purpose.

The tweet, made by user @Ramkish68725686, showed the item wrapped in multicoloured wires and described it as looking frightening. In the post, she wrote, “My neighbor just found this in her son’s bag and came to my house crying. Abeg what is this used for? Help me answer her fast.”

Comments from other X users offered various guesses.
