Galatasaray midfielder Renato Nhaga hails Victor Osimhen as a role model for African footballers

Renato Nhaga, the Guinea‑Bissau midfielder who joined Galatasaray in the 2026 winter transfer window, said Victor Osimhen has been a key influence on his adaptation to the Turkish club. Nhaga told Le Marca Sports that the Super Eagles striker serves as an example for African players aiming to succeed at the highest level.

“Osimhen is a very important figure for both me and all African players. He’s someone who came from nothing and made it all the way here. He’s a huge role model,” Nhaga said. He added that Osimhen welcomed him warmly from his first day, looking after him and offering guidance.

The Nigerian forward completed a permanent transfer to Galatasaray last summer after a successful loan spell. At 27, he has recorded 59 goals and 16 assists in 74 matches across all competitions, playing a central part in the club’s recent achievements.

Nhaga noted that Osimhen regularly shares lessons from his own career, saying, “By sharing examples from his own life, he helps me in my development.” He also remarked, “He’s been supporting me from day one. He welcomed me very warmly. He always looks out for and protects me.”
