Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice‑presidential candidate, told Channels Television’s “Politics Today” programme that his party intends to work with everyone, including terrorists and criminals, to reduce insecurity if it wins the 2027 general elections.
He noted that inhabitants of areas most affected by violence usually know the locations and identities of the militants. Kwankwaso said, “We will work with the people, even the terrorists and of course the criminals themselves, to see what can be done to discourage their actions,” adding that the party will engage in dialogue with all parties.
The candidate also pointed out that many communities hesitate to report incidents to security agencies because previous attempts have left them unsatisfied and fearful of reprisals.
