Former presidential hopeful Rabiu Kwankwaso, now the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice‑presidential candidate, told Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday that he is confident the party will win the upcoming 2027 presidential poll, adding that numerous unexpected developments are likely to work in the NDC’s favour.
He pointed to growing backing for the NDC in several key commercial hubs, saying that sentiment in places such as Wuse Market, Sabon Gari in Kano and Ibadan reflects expanding support beyond the party’s traditional bases in the South‑East and South‑South.
Kwankwaso also asserted that the NDC’s presidential nominee, Peter Obi, will defeat incumbent President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 race. He emphasised that Obi has pledged to serve only a single term, describing him as a person of integrity who will keep that promise.
According to Kwankwaso, a formal agreement has been signed between Obi, himself and the NDC outlining the one‑term commitment, reinforcing the party’s confidence in its electoral prospects.
