A social media user on X (formerly Twitter) has shared a startling account of how a woman fake a wedding in order to receive financial gifts from her workplace.According to the post, staff members in the organisation had a tradition of contributing money whenever an employee was getting married.
Under the arrangement, management gives ₦100,000 while colleagues contribute an additional ₦50,000.
The poster, identifying the story as one involving a sister’s colleague, claimed the woman had worked at the organisation for a long time and was aware of the policy.
She was said to have recently secured a new job in another state and was preparing to resign. Before leaving, she allegedly printed a fake wedding invitation card and presented it to her manager, triggering the usual wedding support process.
Following the submission, colleagues reportedly began contributing towards what they believed was her upcoming wedding.
The post further claimed that the organisation released the ₦150,000 payment to her one week before the supposed ceremony, in line with its internal practice meant to support preparations.
Shortly after receiving the money, she allegedly resigned from her position.
In a further twist, it was claimed that a day before the scheduled wedding date, she privately informed a colleague that the entire event had been fabricated, stating she only acted because she had previously contributed to many coworkers’ weddings over the years
