Gov Sule Denies Alleged Saudi Meeting With Atiku Amid Reports of 2027 Political Talks

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has denied reports linking him to a secret meeting with Atiku Abubakar in Saudi Arabia over alleged 2027 political discussions against President Tinubu.

Abdullahi Sule has denied reports alleging that he held a private political meeting with Atiku Abubakar in Saudi Arabia to discuss plans ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

The allegation emerged after reports claimed both politicians met in Mecca during the recent Umrah pilgrimage, where they were said to have discussed possible political alignments targeted at the next election cycle and strategies that could affect President Bola Tinubu’s re-election prospects.

However, the Nasarawa State Government has dismissed the report, describing it as inaccurate. According to the governor’s camp, although Sule travelled to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj during the same period, there was no political meeting with Atiku as alleged.

Aide to Atiku Abubakar also reportedly said he was aware that the former vice president travelled for Umrah but could not confirm any such meeting between both figures.

The development has generated fresh political discussion, especially as early alignments and coalition talks continue to shape conversations around the 2027 election, despite official campaigns still being years away.
