Chelsea host Paris Saint Germain at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night in the Champions League round of 16 second leg with the French side holding a 5-2 aggregate advantage after the first meeting in Paris.

The opening match produced an open contest with both teams creating chances. Chelsea generated 1.57 xG from nine shots with four on target and four big chances despite playing away from home. PSG produced 0.90 xG from nine attempts with two big chances while controlling possession with 58% and completing 518 accurate passes.
That match also showed the different approaches of both teams. PSG controlled territory with 26 touches in the opposition box compared with 17 from Chelsea. The London side still created higher quality chances and finished the game with 1.79 xG on target.
Chelsea come into the second leg after finishing sixth in the league phase with five wins, one draw and two defeats. They scored 17 goals and conceded 10 during that stage of the competition to secure automatic qualification for the round of 16.
PSG finished 11th in the same table with four wins, two draws and two defeats before progressing through the knockout play off round.
History between the sides adds further context to the tie. PSG have won four of the nine previous Champions League meetings while Chelsea have won two and three matches have finished level.
