Lawrence Oyor, a Nigerian gospel pastor, praised former Anambra governor Peter Obi’s political trajectory during a recent church event, noting that the 2027 election cycle is approaching.
Addressing the audience, Oyor remarked that regardless of whether voters choose Obi, it is puzzling that a man who has achieved considerable wealth, influence and political power appears to have escaped any substantive accusations, adding that any wrongdoing would have surfaced by now.
Obi, who governed Anambra State from 2006 until 2013, later contested the 2023 presidential election on the Labour Party ticket, finishing third but winning several states and spawning the “Obidient” movement that positioned him as a leading opposition figure.
Since that election, Obi has continued to comment on issues such as governance, accountability and the economy, while his supporters have been urging him to run again in the 2027 presidential race.
