Edo Couple Abducted as Bandits Release Disturbing Ransom Video

Bandits have kidnapped a married couple from their home in Edo State and released a disturbing video demanding ransom. Full details of the abduction, family reactions, and the security response.

A wave of shock has swept through parts of Edo State after bandits abducted a married couple from their home and released a disturbing ransom video showing the victims pleading for their lives.

The incident occurred in a rural community in the state, where heavily armed men reportedly invaded the couple’s residence late at night. Residents said the attackers fired sporadically to scare neighbors before forcefully taking the victims away.

Shortly after the abduction, the kidnappers released a chilling video showing the couple looking frightened, visibly exhausted, and surrounded by the armed men. In the footage, the victims were compelled to beg their families to meet the ransom demand to secure their release.

The kidnappers reportedly demanded a large sum, warning that the victims would face severe consequences if the ransom was not paid promptly. The amount requested has not been officially disclosed, as family members are said to be in panic and negotiating discreetly.

Locals described the attack as “terrifying,” noting that the bandits operated for several minutes without any security interruption. The incident has reignited concerns over increasing kidnappings for ransom across parts of the South-South region.

Edo State Police Command confirmed receiving reports of the abduction and said a combined security operation has been launched to track the perpetrators and rescue the victims alive.

A senior officer who spoke on condition of anonymity assured that security teams were already combing nearby forests and surveillance units had been deployed to analyze the ransom video for clues.

Community leaders are calling for urgent intervention from the state government, warning that residents now fear sleeping in their own homes due to rising insecurity.
