Mercy Eke says she could afford seafood herself, yet boyfriend still sent ₦150,000

Reality TV personality Mercy Eke told Toke Makinwa in a recent interview that she was craving seafood priced at about ₦135,000, a cost she could comfortably meet, but her boyfriend transferred ₦150,000 to her anyway.

She said she sent him a photo of the dish she wanted, and he promptly sent the money, noting that he was aware she had the means to pay for it but chose to cover it as a thoughtful gesture.

Mercy explained that the act reminded her that every woman wants to feel cared for, regardless of her financial status, and warned against the assumption that a woman can always handle everything just because she has money.

She added that while a man might still give her huge sums such as ₦100 million or ₦50 million, the modest ₦150,000 holds special significance, contrasting it with men who question the need for such spending; the remarks follow a prior Gistreel interview where she said her Big Brother Naija fame has made finding a life partner more challenging.
