US soldier asks Nigerians to name a benefit of being Nigerian in Nigeria, sparking debate

A Nigerian serving in the United States military posted a video on social media that challenges Nigerians to identify a single advantage of being Nigerian while living in Nigeria. The clip quickly went viral after its release.

In the recording the serviceman admits he could not think of any benefit and asks viewers, “What is one benefit of being a Nigerian in Nigeria?” He ends the video by encouraging anyone who can name a benefit to share it in the comments.

Despite his criticism, he praised Nigerians living abroad, calling them “the most resilient, hard‑working people you can ever get” and noting their success in building lives outside the country.

He draws a sharp line between the identity of being Nigerian and residing in Nigeria, describing the latter as “demeaning,” and invites the audience to prove him wrong by pointing out an overlooked advantage.
