NAF Officer Arrested With Illegal Firearms, Claims Weapons Were Supplied From Edo Government House
A Nigerian Air Force serviceman has been arrested for unlawful possession of firearms. He alleges the weapons were supplied from Edo Government House through an inspector reportedly working for a commissioner’s orderly.

A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) serviceman has been arrested for allegedly being in possession of illegal firearms, sparking a fresh wave of concerns about the circulation of weapons among security personnel and the potential involvement of government officials.
Security sources revealed that the airman was apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation after officers found firearms in his possession without proper authorization. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly claimed that the weapons were supplied from the Edo State Government House.
According to his statement, the guns were handed over to him by a police inspector who allegedly works as an aide to the orderly of a senior commissioner in the state government. The revelation has triggered shock and prompted immediate calls for a deeper investigation into how state-linked security operatives may be involved in the movement of unauthorized weapons.
Investigators are said to be verifying the airman’s claims, as authorities have not yet confirmed whether the alleged government officials or security aides were aware of or directly involved in the transaction.
The Nigerian Air Force has not issued a formal statement, but internal disciplinary and intelligence units are reportedly working with other security agencies to determine the origin of the firearms and the extent of the network involved.
Meanwhile, Edo State authorities have yet to comment on the allegations, though insiders say the matter could spark political tension if proven true, especially with rising insecurity and concerns over the proliferation of weapons in the region.
The arrested serviceman is expected to face multiple charges as investigations continue, including illegal possession of firearms, security compromise, and possible collusion with unauthorized networks.
