Abaribe Laments Kanu’s Ordeal, Says South East Not Getting Justice in Nigeria
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has criticised Nigeria’s justice system over the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, saying the South East is consistently denied fair treatment.

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has once again expressed frustration over the continued detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, declaring that the situation proves that “justice in Nigeria is not meant for the South East.”
Abaribe made the remark while speaking on the state of the nation and the ongoing legal battle surrounding Kanu. He said the prolonged detention, despite multiple court rulings in Kanu’s favour, shows a pattern of selective justice that has deeply affected how the South East views the Nigerian system.
The senator argued that many issues concerning the region are often handled with bias, adding that the Federal Government must rebuild trust by respecting court orders and ensuring equal treatment for all citizens, regardless of region or political sentiment.
He further noted that resolving the Kanu matter would help ease tensions and reduce the sense of marginalisation among Igbo youths.
Abaribe’s comments have sparked wide reactions across social media, with many in the South East agreeing with his position, while critics argue that the matter is more complex than he portrays.
The Federal Government has yet to respond to his latest remarks.
