Army Brigade Commander Reportedly Killed in Deadly ISWAP Ambush
A senior Nigerian Army Brigade Commander has been killed in an attack carried out by ISWAP terrorists, military sources confirm. The incident has heightened security concerns in the region.
A senior military officer, identified as a Brigade Commander, has been killed following a deadly ambush staged by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
According to reliable security sources, the attack occurred during an operation in one of the insurgency-prone areas in the North-East, where troops had been deployed for clearance and intelligence missions.
The terrorists were said to have laid a well-coordinated ambush, opening heavy fire on the advancing military team. Despite efforts by the troops to repel the attack, the Brigade Commander sustained fatal injuries.
