Terrorists Launch Deadly Attack On Travellers Along Kwara Road, One Killed In Kogi Ambush
Tension grips motorists as terrorists ambush travellers along the Kwara-Kogi highway, leaving one person dead and several others injured. Security forces have since been deployed to the area.

There was palpable tension on Saturday as terrorists ambushed travellers along the Kwara-Kogi highway, killing one person and leaving several others injured in a shocking broad daylight attack.
According to eyewitnesses, the heavily armed assailants opened fire on vehicles plying the busy route between Obajana and Oke-Onigbin, forcing many motorists to abandon their cars and flee into nearby bushes for safety.
“They came out of nowhere and started shooting sporadically. Everyone ran for their lives. One man was hit by a bullet and died on the spot,” a survivor recounted.
Security operatives, including soldiers and local vigilante groups, were later deployed to the scene to restore order and evacuate victims. However, the attackers reportedly escaped before reinforcements arrived.
The incident has sparked panic among commuters, with many residents calling for immediate government intervention and tighter security along the ever-busy route that links Kwara and Kogi states.
Spokesperson for the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Aya, confirmed the incident, noting that investigations have begun and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, transportation unions have advised drivers to exercise caution and avoid late-night travel on the route until security improves.
