A Nigerian woman took to X on July 18 2026 to claim that the bulk of her life savings, held in a FirstBank account, had been withdrawn, leaving only ₦194 behind. She said the loss was discovered after she attempted to access the account on a Thursday.
The user explained that she maintains three banking profiles—Moniepoint, Opay and FirstBank—with the latter serving as her primary savings repository. When she tried to log in at a market that day, the platform repeatedly reported an incorrect password and eventually locked her out.
She recounted checking the account again the following morning and finding that almost every naira had been taken, stating, “Only for me to check this morning and find out that they wiped everything in my account. The money remaining there is just ₦194.” The woman described the missing amount as her entire life savings and expressed disbelief at the theft.
The video of her appeal quickly spread, prompting many Nigerian users to voice sympathy and advise her to file a complaint with FirstBank and the appropriate law‑enforcement bodies.
