The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a notorious arms supplier accused of providing weapons to armed bandits operating across the state. According to authorities, the suspect — along with several accomplices — was apprehended during a coordinated security raid aimed at curbing banditry and illegal arms circulation in Northern Nigeria.
Police spokesperson ASP Mansir Hassan confirmed the development in a statement released on Sunday. He disclosed that the operation, which followed credible intelligence, led to the recovery of several firearms, live ammunition, and communication gadgets believed to have been used to facilitate criminal activities.
“During interrogation, the main suspect confessed to supplying weapons to multiple bandit groups responsible for attacks in parts of Kaduna and neighboring states,” Hassan said. “Our officers remain committed to dismantling all criminal networks threatening the peace and safety of residents.”
The police further revealed that the suspects were part of a syndicate responsible for trafficking illegal arms to various terror cells operating in the region. Investigations are ongoing to uncover other members of the network and trace the supply chain of the seized weapons.
Residents in Kaduna have commended the police for the breakthrough, describing it as a significant step in reducing the spate of kidnappings and bandit attacks that have plagued parts of the state in recent months. The Command assured citizens that intelligence-driven operations would continue to ensure lasting security and peace.
The arrested suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
