FG Unveils 2025 Zuma International Film Festival

The Federal Government, in partnership with the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has officially announced the 15th edition of the Zuma International Film Festival (ZIFF). Scheduled to take place from December 1 to 5, 2025, in Abuja, the festival promises to be a landmark celebration of African cinema and creative excellence.
This year’s theme, _“Storytelling for Global Influence: Film as a Soft Power and Economic Force,”_ emphasizes the transformative role of cinema in shaping narratives, boosting cultural diplomacy, and driving economic growth. The festival will feature a packed lineup of events, including the NFC Annual Film Lecture, Emerging Talent Showcase, Film Trade & Finance Forum, Co-Production and Pitching Sessions, daily film screenings, and the prestigious ZUMA Awards.
With over 3,000 film submissions from countries such as Nigeria, India, the United States, South Africa, and France, ZIFF 2025 is set to highlight diverse stories across genres, including feature films, documentaries, animations, and indigenous language productions. The event aims to foster dialogue, collaboration, and investment within the global film industry.
Speaking on the festival, the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, lauded the Nigerian film industry’s resilience and creativity, emphasizing its critical role in cultural preservation and youth empowerment. She called on filmmakers, investors, and the public to participate in making ZIFF 2025 a defining moment for African storytelling.
