Brace for Chaos if Dangote Gets Privileges Above the Law” – Ajaero Fires at Shettima

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has issued a stern warning to Vice President Kashim Shettima over his recent remarks describing the Dangote Group as a “national asset.” Ajaero cautioned that granting the refinery or any corporation rights and privileges beyond Nigeria’s labour laws would spark unrest and destabilize the nation.
He stated, _”No company, no matter how big, strategic, or well-connected, can operate above the law. If the Dangote Refinery is treated as untouchable, the government must prepare for the storms of injustice it will unleash. There can be no peace without justice.”_
Ajaero criticized Shettima’s stance as a “national tragedy,” arguing that it promotes impunity and undermines workers’ rights. He accused the government of siding with powerful corporations at the expense of ordinary Nigerians, describing the situation as a declaration of class war. The NLC also accused the Dangote Group of violating workers’ rights to unionize and condemned the dismissal of employees who joined unions, calling it a blatant attack on labour protections guaranteed by law.
The labour leader concluded with a rallying call, urging Nigerian workers to stand united against corporate exploitation, while warning the government to end its “sacred cow syndrome” before it fuels further unrest.
