US Embassy Halts Regular Social Media Updates Amid Government Shutdown

The US Embassy has announced a pause on its regular social media activities due to the ongoing US government shutdown, which began on October 1, 2025, following disagreements over federal spending. Platforms like Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram will only share urgent safety and security updates until operations fully resume.
Despite the suspension, scheduled passport and visa services, both in the US and at embassies and consulates abroad, will continue as circumstances permit. The embassy reassured the public that critical communication channels will remain open during this period.
This marks the first US government shutdown in six years, with its ripple effects being felt across embassies worldwide as they scale back non-essential activities.
