Nigerian Man Returns $135K Mistakenly Deposited in His Crypto Wallet

In a rare act of integrity, Sunusi Danjuma Ali, a Nigerian crypto trader, has earned widespread praise for returning $135,000 (over ₦200 million) that was mistakenly credited to his cryptocurrency wallet. Ali, who trades on the Bitunix platform, discovered the unexpected balance while logging into his account.
Recognizing that the funds were not his, Ali immediately contacted Bitunix’s Africa team and reached out to the company via their official X (formerly Twitter) account to report the error. The platform later confirmed the deposit was caused by a system glitch, and Ali requested they rectify the mistake without hesitation.
The story gained traction after former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad shared it on social media, applauding Ali’s honesty as an example of good character. _“It is always good to be good,”_ Ahmad wrote, while others chimed in, celebrating Ali for resisting the temptation to misuse the funds.
