Liverpool have officially signed Giovanni Leoni, an 18-year-old defender from Parma.

Liverpool have officially announced the signing of Parma’s highly-rated centre-back, Giovanni Leoni, for £26 million plus add-ons. This latest addition takes their summer transfer spending to a staggering £321.5 million. The 18-year-old Italian talent has signed a six-year contract with the Reds, becoming the sixth major arrival at Anfield in what’s shaping up to be an ambitious transfer window.
A deal worth £26 million plus add-ons. This latest acquisition pushes their summer spending past a jaw-dropping £300 million, making it one of the most expensive transfer windows in Premier League history.
Leoni, who impressed with 17 Serie A appearances last season and has already featured for Italy’s U19 side, joins Liverpool on a six-year contract. He’s set to bolster Arne Slot’s defensive lineup alongside Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, and Joe Gomez. The teenager’s move is subject to international clearance and a work permit, but he’s expected to be available for Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth.
Speaking about his move, Leoni expressed excitement, calling Liverpool “one of the best clubs in the world” and saying he couldn’t turn down the opportunity. With this signing, Liverpool continue their ambitious rebuild, having already brought in eight players this summer while recouping nearly £200 million through high-profile sales like Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez.
